MRI: Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease not Amenable to Revascularization

Study of:

This study is looking at function and blood flow in the heart muscle with MRI in patients who have blockages in their coronary arteries that prevent adequate blood flow to the heart muscle but who do not appear to be candidates for angioplasty/stent or bypass surgery.

Patients who are eligible will have a small amount of blood taken to be analyzed for several biochemical substances related to coronary artery disease and then undergo a rest and stress (a medication called adenosine is given through an IV during the MRI scan to mimic exercise) MRI scan. The MRI will be repeated at six and twelve months.
