Edwards: Mechanical versus tissue valve

Study of:
The purpose of this study is to obtain clinical data comparing tissue and mechanical valves implanted in the mitral position in patients between the ages of 60 and 70 years. Complication analysis is conducted preoperatively, at discharge, at six months and annually. The goal of this study design is to allow for matching of ideal valve type based on patient age, gender, rhythm, presence of preexisting CAD, concurrent CABG and emergent/elective surgery.
