Continued-Use Filterwire Registry (FIRE Registry): Distal Protection Studies for Saphenous Vein Grafts

Study of:
Filterwire device; sponsored by Embolic Protection, Inc., BostonScientific

During saphenous vein graft stenting, there is increased risk of breaking off small particles of plaque or blood clots that could travel down stream and get lodged in the vessel. This could possibly cause a small heart attack or stroke. There are new devices being developed to trap and remove these particles preventing injury.

The FIRE Registry is to evaluate the effectiveness of the Filterwire device for patients who meet criteria for distal protection in a saphenous vein bypass graft. Patients are followed at 1 and 6 months.
