PROXIMAL Trial: Proximal Protection During Saphenous Vein Graft Interventions Using the Proxis™ Embolic Protection System.

Study of:
Proxis™ device arm; sponsored by Velocimed, Inc.

During saphenous vein graft stenting, there is increased risk of breaking off small particles of plaque or blood clots that could travel down stream and get lodged in the vessel. This could possibly cause a small heart attack or stroke. There are new devices being developed to trap and remove these particles preventing injury.

The PROXIMAL trial is designed to establish safety and efficacy of treatment with Velocimed Proxis™ Embolic Protection System during angioplasty/stenting of saphenous vein grafts. Patients will be randomized to either the Proxis™ device arm or the control arm (other FDA approved distal protection devices). The follow-up is a 30-day clinic visit with a physician.
