Emergency Cardiac Care

Statewide network ensures fast, effective care for any cardiovascular emergency

In a cardiovascular emergency, every minute counts.

The Minneapolis Heart Institute® at Abbott Northwestern Hospital is equipped to handle all cardiac and vascular (blood vessel) emergencies, including:

Here is what sets our system apart:
  • In partnership with our Emergency Department, we work with doctors, nurses, hospitals and emergency medical response teams across the state to streamline how we respond to emergencies. This helps patients get the care they need faster.
  • We treat patients using the most up-to-date and effective methods and guidelines. We also help our statewide partners adapt these methods and guidelines to their own settings.
  • We track our outcomes and use the information to improve the quality and efficiency  of our care. Our statewide partners also use this information to improve their care and to share ideas about best practices.
  • Two cardiologists are on-site at all times. Surgeons and other specialized staff are always available to respond to emergencies.
  • With many active research studies and the latest treatments and devices, the Minneapolis Heart Institute® ensures that patients have access to the most advanced care possible.
