2013:

  • Minneapolis Heart Institute® at Abbott Northwestern Hospital ranked #1 in the Twin Cities and #22 nationally in cardiology and heart surgery by US News & World Report Best Hospitals list.

2012:

  • Minneapolis Heart Institute® at Abbott Northwestern Hospital ranked #19 nationally and #1 in the Twin Cities in cardiology and heart surgery by US News & World Report Best Hospitals list.
  • The Cardiovascular Cell Therapy Research Network selected Minneapolis Heart Institute® at Abbott Northwestern Hospital as one of its seven U.S. centers of excellence.
  • John Lesser, MD, director of Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging at Minneapolis Heart Institute® at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, was named president of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography.
  • Minneapolis Heart Institute® at Abbott Northwestern Hospital received the Medical Leadership Award from the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association. The Award recognized the regional “Cool It” program directed by interventional cardiologist Michael Mooney, MD, which provides therapeutic hypothermia to patients with sudden cardiac arrest.
  • Minnesota Physician named Tim Henry, MD, director of Research, Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation, as one of Minnesota’s 100 Influential Health Care Leaders.
  • Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine recognized 21 Minneapolis Heart Institute® physicians in their 2012 Top Doctors issue.
  • The 2012 American College of Cardiology annual meeting included physicians from Minneapolis Heart Institute® and Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation in 37 sessions, 15 invited presentations and 22 original research presentations.

2011:

2010:

  • Abbott Northwestern Hospital named Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care by Blue Cross Blue Shield.

2008:

2006:

  • Abbott Northwestern Hospital named among the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals® for cardiovascular care by Thomson Healthcare (formerly Solucient).
  • Abbott Northwestern Hospital named in U.S. News & World Report’s America’s Best Hospitals 2006 #40 – heart & heart surgery.
  • Two cardiologists with the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation at Abbott Northwestern Hospital were recently recognized for their outstanding contributions to the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease by the American College of Cardiology (ACC), Minnesota Chapter. Timothy Henry, MD, received the Innovator Award for his work on Abbott Northwestern’s Level.
  • One Heart Attack Program, a first-of-its-kind national model for making angioplasty available to patients from across Minnesota. Robert Hauser, MD, received a Champions of Minnesota Cardiology Award for his leadership in the area of medical devices.
